In a plea bargain reached in Vernon Municipal Court, Kazemian, 50,
pleaded guilty to two disorderly persons charges of resisting arrest
and a summons of interfering with state Fish & Wildlife officials.
In exchange, summonses alleging he poured urine in a bear trap to deter
bruins, trespassed on a neighbor's property and harassed another
neighbor were dismissed.
Kazemian was one of four animal-rights protesters convicted last year
on charges of interfering with the 2005 bear hunt by encircling and
harassing hunters on Dec. 7 in Wawayanda State Park in Vernon. Those
convictions were affirmed this year in Superior Court in Newton and are
now on appeal in the state Appellate Division.
