And then there's the story of Allen Hunley, who just over a year into his deer hunting career killed a buck of a lifetime.

He didn't even know just how good a deer he had killed, using a borrowed muzzle-loader on private land Dec. 12 near his home in Utica.

If the antlers maintain their measurements for the required 60-day drying period, they will be a Boone & Crockett record book qualifier and the second largest ever killed in Mississippi with a muzzle-loader rifle.
