While more than 700 friends and family members 227515027 packed an Emporia church Thursday to mourn Beau Arndt, investigators were writing reports about the death of the young Americus man who was shot while hunting five days earlier.

Authorities have said a shot from a passing pickup truck struck Arndt as he was in hunting in a field.

Lyon County Sheriff Gary Eichorn told the Emporia Gazette investigators went to Topeka on Wednesday, located the three people who were in the pickup and interviewed them. One of them, a 57-year-old Topeka man, is believed to be the person who fired the fatal shot. That man, Eichorn said, talked to his attorney and cooperated with authorities.
