Brute Sunshine Open: TCNJ THREE CHAMPS AND THREE RUNNERS-UP

Lakeland, FL… The College of New Jersey wrestling team wrapped action on Saturday at the 2007
Brute Sunshine Open at the Lakeland Convention Center. After two days of competition in the non-
team scored event, TCNJ produced three champions, three runners-up, a fourth place finisher
and a sixth place finisher. Defending event champion, Augsburg College (MN) produced only two
champions, while Delaware Valley College also had three champions at the event. The
21-team competition featured four of the nation’s top ten ranked teams in Division III, including
No. 1 ranked Augsburg College (MN), #4 Heidelberg College (O), #6 Delaware Valley College and
the #8 ranked Lions of TCNJ.

Capturing the championship at their respective weight classes for the Lions were freshman Justin Bonitatis (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill East) at 165 pounds, junior Greg Osgoodby (Waldwick, NJ/Waldwick) at 174 pounds as well as sophomore Dan DiColo (Budd Lake, NJ/Mt. Olive) at 157.

TCNJ’s second place finishes were earned by junior Al Wonesh (Columbus, NJ/Northern Burlington) at 165 pounds, freshman Kyle Kinchen (Jackson, NJ/Jackson) at 125 pounds, and senior heavyweight Steve Carbone (Cranford, NJ/Cranford), while rookie John Barnett (Oak Ridge, NJ/Jefferson Township) took fourth at 149 pounds and junior Jon Biango (Waldwick, NJ/Waldwick) picked up a sixth place in the 165 pounds weight class.

Bonitatis was a perfect 5-0 for the tournament with a pin in the second round, while DiColo added a 4-0 performance for the weekend. Osgoodby also was 4-0 with a technical fall win and a major decision, while Kinchen and Wonesh both went 3-1 for the tournament. Carbone picked up a 4-1 record for the event as TCNJ had another impressive tournament showing.
