Gloucester County residents receive military nods

UNITED STATES COAST GUARD SEAMAN SCOTT J. SCARPINATO has graduated from the Coast Guard Training Center in Cape May. Seaman Scarpinato will be stationed on the Coast Guard Cutter Blackberry on Oak Island, N.C. Formerly of Franklinville, Seaman Scarpinato is the son of Victor and Diane Scarpinato and brother of Niki. He is a 2003 graduate of Woodstown High School.
AIR NATIONAL GUARD AIRMAN 1ST CLASS DAVID J. HEITMAN has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization and military customs and courtesies, performed drill and ceremony marches and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises and special training in human relations.
In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
Son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Heitman of Sewell, Heitman is a 1998 graduate of Clearview Regional High School, Mullica Hill and received a bachelor's degree in 2004 from the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey, Pomona.
AIR FORCE AIRMAN STEPHEN J. HOLLINGSWORTH has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

Son of Joseph Hollingsworth of Sewell and Donna Hollingsworth of Pennsylvania, he is a 2005 graduate of Gloucester Catholic High School.
QM3 ERIC STETSER received the prestigious Blue Jacket of the Year Award for 2006.
A Quarter Master Third Class, Eric is the son of Ed and Rachel Stetser of Mantua. He graduated from Clearview Regional High School in 2004 and was part of the DEP (Delayed Entry Program) in 2003-2004.
He graduated from boot camp at Great Lakes, Ill. in 2004 and was assigned to the USS Donald Cook DDG75 November 2004 in Norfolk, Va. In September 2005 he was deployed to the Persian Gulf, returning in March 2006.
He was deployed to the Mediterranean on May 19 to serve for six months and is due back in Norfolk on Nov. 19.

Tomkus is the son of Erna Zolkov of Mullica Hill. He earned distinction as an honor graduate. The airman graduated in 2001 from Kingsway Regional High School and received a bachelor's degree in 2005 from Rowan University.
