OOPS! YOU CAUGHT ME-Gloucester City's "Meter Maid" plays no favorites when it comes to giving out parking tickets. In fact as you can see by the photo (s), even if the car belongs to the City's Police Department, and it is parked illegally it will be ticketed!
My question? Who pays the ticket? The taxpayers or the patrolman who parked the car in front of his home? I also wonder if she isn't taking her job much too seriously? We all know the fine is not going to get paid. So why waste the ink?
At one time the signs for "No Parking" during certain hours mentioned the word "sweeper". Now that wording has been removed from the sign so they (the city) can write you a ticket even when the sweeper is broken; and or is not running because of inclement weather.
The photo was taken on Tuesday afternoon November 21. A sign that reads, No Parking 1 P.M. to 3 P.M. is located about 100 feet or more from the corner where the patrol car was parked at Powell and Stites Sts.
