EVESHAM, NJ (September 20, 2018)(CNBNewsnet)--Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina and Evesham Township Police Chief Christopher Chew announced today that a Clementon drug dealer was charged with causing the death of a Marlton customer to whom he sold cocaine earlier this year.
Sean Savage, 45, from the La Cascata neighborhood in Clementon, was charged with one count of Strict Liability for Drug-Induced Death (First Degree), one count of Distribution of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (Third Degree), and one count of Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (Third Degree).
Evesham police officers were called to a Hopewell Road residence on February 20 and discovered the deceased body of an adult male who overdosed on illicit drugs. The investigation, which was conducted by the Evesham Township Police Department and the Prosecutor’s Office, determined the drugs that caused the fatal overdose were purchased from Savage. The decedent’s identity is not being released at this time.
Savage was arrested September 18 in Camden by the New Jersey State Police Fugitive Unit and taken to the Burlington County Jail in Mount Holly. At a first appearance in Superior Court yesterday, Savage was ordered held pending a detention hearing.
The case, which is being prosecuted by Assistant Prosecutor Jeremy Lackey, will now be prepared for presentation to a Grand Jury for possible indictment.
All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
