Washington Township, NJ (June 5, 2018) -- More than 60 cancer patients and caregivers came out to celebrate National Cancer Survivors Day at the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center - Washington Township on Sunday, June 3rd. The spring celebration included everything from lunch, to raffle baskets with gift certificates, to area restaurants, to free massages and chair yoga demonstrations for patients and survivors.
The highlight of the day was the presentation of a Cancer Survivors Day Tree of Hope, which survivors decorated with uniquely colored ribbons that represent their type of cancer. The tree was donated by Lou Solari, founder of Wine Trees in Williamstown, NJ. He is shown here with his wife, Kathy Solari, RN, BSN, a radiation oncology nurse at the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center - Washington Township, and herself a cancer survivor. The Tree of Hope will be permanently located in the Cancer Center lobby as an inspiring reminder of hope, caring and support for all who are diagnosed with cancer.
