GLOUCESTER CITY, NJ—The Gloucester City Fire Department released the following statement regarding the Vitale's Bistro Restaurant Fire, on Friday, January 5, 2018.
At 10:50 hrs Squad 51 along with 501, and Battalion 504 responded to 942 9th St for an alarm system activation. En-route the call was upgraded to a Building fire per reports of heavy fire from the second floor. Squad 51 picked up a water supply upon arrival and stretched 200ft of 1 3/4″ line to the 2nd Floor. Heavy winds and frigid temperatures made for difficult conditions. Squad 51 was able to get a quick knock on the fire, and save the rest of the building from total loss and also save all exposures.
Thank you to all the surrounding communities that provided mutual aid, as well as our public works department for keeping extremely icy conditions minimal.
We at the GCFD wish Vitale’s nothing but the best during their rebuild. We ask that when Vitale’s does reopen that everyone visit and help support this great restaurant in our city.
