Rockfish Fajita Stuffed Tomatoes is one of nine award-winning heart-smart avocado recipes selected to support the American Heart Association’s Healthy for Good movement.
Robbinsville, NJ, April 10, 2017 – Have you ever considered making Rockfish Fajita Stuffed Tomatoes with avocado? This heart healthy recipe was created by Amy Angelo from Pennsville, NJ who received first place in the entree category of the American Heart Association’s and Fresh Avocados – Love One Today® Take Avocado to Heart recipe contest.
Angelo took home a prize of $1,000 for first place and her heart-healthy winning recipe was published on the American Heart Association’s online Recipe Hub and promoted on social media.
“I was looking for heart-healthy recipes on the American Heart Association website because my boyfriend has high blood pressure, and I thought it would be fun to create my own recipe for a contest,” stated Angelo. “I use avocados frequently, especially to make smoothies for my kids. I like to cook with little salt and I add flavor to my foods with avocado as much as possible.”
This recipe contest encouraged participants to share their heart healthy lifestyle, learn more about the benefits of avocados, and experiment with ways to integrate this fruit into daily diets in simple and versatile ways.
“According to the American Heart Association, fresh avocados are a heart-healthy fruit that provide naturally good fats and are cholesterol- and sodium-free, and may help reduce the risk of heart disease,” said television cooking host and American Heart Association spokesperson Chef Hamlet Garcia. “Avocados are one way to meet the American Heart Association’s recommendation for daily fruit and vegetable consumption, and their refreshing taste and versatility make them an easy addition to any meal.”
The avocado recipe contest was created in support of the American Heart Association’s Healthy For Good™ movement, helping to motivate, inspire and educate American consumers to live healthier lives.
