For the Second Consecutive Year, Grey Nun Academy Recognized For
Best Private School and Best Teacher
April 6, 2017 -- Yardley, PA -- Grey Nun Academy, an independent, Catholic, elementary school serving students in PreK through eighth grade, captured two finalist awards in the category of “Best Private School” and “Best Teacher” in Bucks County, PA from the Bucks Happening list, a popular people’s choice competition in the region.
For the second year in a row, both The Academy itself and The Academy's Kindergarten teacher, Mary Beth McGinty, were singled out as representing the best the area has to offer in elementary education. The Academy was also the only independent elementary school named on this year’s list.
Bucks Happening conducted an online listing for area private schools and submissions were tabulated with five area finalists selected. They conducted an online contest which offered schools an opportunity for their constituents to vote for their choice of the best in the county. To ensure fairness and accuracy in “The Happening List” competition, an extensive audit process was in place while tabulating the results. Each year thousands of area participants vote to determine their favorites in multiple categories during the contest.
Deborah Kost, Head of School at Grey Nun Academy, was happy to learn news of the results. “To be recognized for a second consecutive year is a true testament to our school and our teachers. Our school is dedicated to living its mission every day – providing a superior education that celebrates the whole child – mind, heart, body, and spirit. Our teachers are compassionate and dedicated, and Mary Beth McGinty is deserving of this recognition once again. She has been teaching here for 33 years and continues to bring joy to the learning experience for every student. Mary Beth is a key member of the faculty that lights the way for young students to begin their academic journey and discover their potential. We are proud and grateful to have her on staff as she not only educates our young students, but also serves as a mentor for other teachers within our community.
“It is such an honor to be named a finalist again," says Mary Beth McGinty. “Teaching enriches my life immensely. I am rewarded daily, and I enjoy working at a school where the students are excited to learn. Our environment is welcoming and the teachers’ main focus is cultivating a lifelong love of learning in the students. We also focus on social and spiritual growth and respect for others both inside and outside of the classroom.”
“Grey Nun Academy students are curious about the world. They are observant and unafraid, willing to explore, problem solve and discover ways to find solutions. Preparing young students to excel and guiding them to experience success today helps to lay the foundation that enables each child to carry it forward. This is my calling," added McGinty.
