ST. PETERSBURG, FLORIDA (April 19, 2017)(CNBNewsnet)--Gloucester Catholic, Gloucester City, NJ got off to a strong start against King High, Florida in today’s game at the Walter Fuller Sports Complex. The Rams scored on a double by Chris Turco and a single by Jason Bobiak in the first inning. Catholic scored four runs in the second thanks to a triple by Adam Bonomo. At the plate, Kyle Pierman, Alex Persichetti, and Turco all had two hits each.
The Rams Andrew Vail earned the win. He threw five innings, striking out four.
Reflecting on the 7-1 win Rams Coach Adam Tussey said, “pitcher Andrew Vail threw a great game. We had a few huge defensive plays by Bobiak, Pierman, and Paxia. Our defense continues to dominate our opponents. They were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Joe Liscio made the most plays with eight.”
When told how cold it was in South Jersey Tussey said, “We lucked out with the weather so far, pretty much 85 both days.”
