BROOKLAWN, NJ--Commencement exercises for the Alice Costello School Class of 2008 were held on Monday evening, June 9, 2008, at the Alice Costello School. Graduation diplomas were presented to 34 students. This year the students chose the theme "Don't Stop Believing" for the commencement exercises.
Highlighting the evening was the presentation of awards to outstanding graduates.
The Post #72 American Legion Scholarship Awards were presented to JOHNATHAN RIGHTER and MEGHAN RYAN. MEGHAN and JOHNATHAN also received the PTA Outstanding Scholarship Awards. The PTA Anna Pantella Most Improved Student award was presented to HALEY CHAMPION. SHANE HUSSEY received the St. Maurice Parish GIFTED GIVER Award, MICHELLE BELTRAN received the Elizabeth Voll award. The Matthew Kuhn Science award was presented to DAVID CHORZELEWSKI, MEGHAN RYAN was the recipient of the George Gallimore Award and ANDREW GILLEN received the Carmen Palmiero Award.
The Brooklawn Education Association Courtesy Award was presented to RYAN SWANK. The following students received an award for highest academic averages: MEGHAN RYAN for English, JENAI DOBBINS for Social Studies ANDREW GILLEN for Math, JOHNATHAN RIGHTER for Science, and MICHELLE BELTRAN for Reading. The Dan Stelluto award was presented to MICHELLE BELTRAN. The Maryann Grant award was presented to JUSTIN CICCAGLIONE. The Brooklawn Emergency Management services award was presented to DAVID CHORZELEWSKI.

The commencement exercise began with the traditional processional "Pomp and Circumstance". The Invocation was delivered by Pastor Dan Amey of the Brooklawn United Methodist Church. The flag salute was then lead by Rachael Cowgill. A speech of welcome was delivered by Johnathan Righter. Under the direction of Mrs. Eleanor Bracey, the class performed the song "The World's Greatest". The Theme " Don't Stop Believing" was delivered by Meghan Ryan. David Chorzelewski then presented the class gift to Dr. John Kellmayer, Superintendent.
Remarks to the class of 2008 were made by Mr. Bruce Darrow, President of the Board of Education. Conferring of Diplomas was done by Mr. James Cordery and Mr. Mike Gillen, Board of Education Member.
A presentation video of the class of 2008 - from their infancy thru 8thgrade dinner dance was viewed and enjoyed by all. Poems were read by A. J. Adams and Jenai Dobbins. The Benediction was then delivered by Pastor Dan Amey Our farewell speech was given by Michelle Beltran. A presentation of flowers by the graduates to their parents/guardians then took place.
Ushers & Usherettes were Thomas O'Donnell, Sydney Thomson, Morgan Quattrochi, Setphen Bobo, Lauren Munn and Cameron Labbree.
