The Camden County Prosecutor’s Office Suburban Narcotics Task Force, Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Gangs, Guns, and Narcotics Unit, Pennsauken Police Department, Cherry Hill Police Department, Winslow Township Police Department, Gloucester Township Police Department Special Investigations Unit, Homeland Security Investigations Cherry Hill Office and U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration/Camden High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) reported three men have been arrested in connection with, a large-scale drug trafficking organization.
Israel “Gato” Colin-Castaneda, 38, of Atlantic City, Felix Gutierrez-Armenta, 30, and Jose Coronel, 55, both of Hammonton, are accused of taking part in a drug trafficking organization that acquired crystal methamphetamine from Mexico and distributed the drugs throughout the Camden and Atlantic County areas.
Officers seized approximately two pounds of crystal methamphetamine, under one half ounce of cocaine, and two vehicles. Detectives arrested all three suspects on Wednesday, March 8, 2017, following a three month, multi-agency investigation and subsequently executed search warrants at a residence in Atlantic City.
Israel Colin-Castaneda and Felix Gutierrez-Armenta are alleged to be in the United States illegally and had U.S Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainers placed on them by Homeland Security Investigations.
All three suspects were apprehended in Gloucester Township after attempting to distribute the two pounds of crystal methamphetamine and were successfully detained by members of the Camden County Sheriff’s Department Emergency Response Team (SERT).
Israel Colin-Castaneda was charged with possession of controlled dangerous substances (CDS) and possession of CDS with intent to distribute. Felix Gutierrez-Armenta and Jose Coronel were charged with conspiracy to distribute CDS, possession of CDS, and possession of CDS with intent to distribute.
The defendants were remanded to the Camden County Jail.
All persons charged with crimes are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
