SOUTH JERSEY (March 20, 2017)--The Albert J. Carino Boys Basketball Club of South Jersey has announced the squads for the 40th Annual All- Star Game to be played Sunday, March 26th starting at 1:00 P.M. at Rutgers University, Camden. The Basketball Club of South Jersey’s All-Star Game is the longest running All-Star Game in the State of New Jersey. The local Lions Clubs joint sponsor the event with The Club.
The High School game will follow the 13h Annual Tim Lenahan Memorial Basketball Game featuring 8th graders from South Jersey,
With the proceeds this year, over $135,000 will have been distributed through the Basketball Club’s Scholarship Program and the Lions Clubs’ sight program since the inception of the All-Star Games.
The support of the Lions Clubs through South Jersey, Rutgers University, Basketball Officials (IAABO Board 34) and the news media make the All-Star games and the scholarship grants possible.
Tickets for the event cost $5.00 at the door ($2.00 for children under the age of twelve) and are also available for schools from members of the local Lions Clubs. For questions regarding tickets, contact Bob DeLambily at (856) 858-0053.
Neither team lacks firepower with the East featuring Hafeez Melvin (Maple Shade), Manny Ansong (Bordentown), Michael Gibson (Clayton) and Luciano Lubrano (Ocean City). The West will be led by the Aziz Parker (Medford Tech), Ja’Zere Noel (Woodbury) and Robert Tindley (Haddon Heights).
The day will include sharpshooters taking aim from long distance in the 3-point shooting contest.and the creativity of our local athletes will provide entertainment in the annual Slam Dunk Contest which will take place at halftime.
The West Team will be coached by Eric Cassidy (Cherokee High School) and assisted by Justin Barringer and Tom Freeman and Paul Rodio (St. Augustine Prep) will head the East Team with assistants Andrew Kirey and Greg Cusik.
