BROOKLAWN NJ (March 6, 2017)--Brooklawn Police arrested Jorge H. Perez, 31, (image above) of the 200 unit block of Broadway, Westville, today, Monday, and charged him with criminal attempt, a murder of the 1st degree, along with other criminal charges. According to police at approximately 1:49 AM, today officers were dispatched to Westbrook Bowling Lanes, Route 130 and Creek Road for a report of a stabbing that just occurred.
Upon arrival police located a 26-year-old male suffering from a stab wound to the groin area in the parking lot. Witnesses at the scene said the suspect stabbed the victim during an argument, which started in the bar. The suspect had fled the scene prior to police arrival, but witnesses provided officers with the name of a suspect.
The victim was transported to Cooper Hospital where he is reported to be in stable condition after requiring emergency surgery.
Further investigation by police led officers to the suspect, Jorge Perez. He was arrested and charged with the stabbing. He was processed at police headquarters, issued a warrant, and remanded to the Camden County Correctional Facility pending a detention hearing.
Besides murder, he was charged with Aggravated Assault with Bodily Injury – 2nd Degree,
Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose – 3rd Degree, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon – 4th Degree, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon – 4th Degree.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
