PAULSBORO, NJ (February 2, 2017)-- A brother and sister have been arrested in connection with a robbery, shooting and attempted carjacking in Paulsboro on April 22, 2016.
Following an investigation by the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office and the Paulsboro Police Department, Donnell Scruggs (DOB 8/5/80), of Glassboro was taken into custody at a Glassboro apartment on February 1, 2017. He is charged with attempted murder, robbery, carjacking, conspiracy to commit robbery and conspiracy to commit carjacking.
Arrested January 10, 2017, on the same charges was Renae Scruggs (DOB 9/14/82), of Paulsboro, sister of Donnell.
Donnell and Renae Scruggs are being held without bail.
Also charged in the same incident and arrested May 26, 2016, was Ryan K. Williams (6/19/78), of Paulsboro. He is charged with attempted murder, robbery, unlawful possession of a handgun, possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose and aggravated assault. He is jailed in default of $750,000 bail.
The victim in the incident was a 39-year-old Paulsboro man who was shot once in the chest and was found by police in the parking area of a Paulsboro convenience store on Billings Ave. on the night of April 22, 2016. Cash, a wristwatch and cell phones were taken.
Those charged are presumed innocent until proven otherwise.
