GTPD Media Release:
The Gloucester Township Police Department will be conducting DWI saturation patrols over the Saint Patrick’s Day Weekend beginning Friday March 14th through Monday March 17th.These patrols will target roadways within the Township that have shown to have a higher number of DWI arrest and motor vehicle crashes.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that alcohol impaired motor vehicle crashes cost an estimated $37 billion dollars annually. Additionally, in 2012, more than 10,000 people died in alcohol impaired motor vehicle crashes. The New Jersey State Police reported that in 2012, alcohol and/or drug impairment was a factor in 145 fatal motor vehicle crashes.
Help make Saint Patrick’s Day weekend a safe one by doing one of the following; if you plan to drive, don’t drink, choose a sober designated driver before partying or take mass transit or a taxi.
