Deptford High School student John MaGee and Paulsboro High School student Courtney Pickens did the right thing, and the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office noticed.
The students’ “random acts of kindness” were brought to the attention of GCPO community justice coordinator Shannon Fuerneisen and they visited GCPO offices today to receive plaques and tickets to an upcoming Philadelphia Seventy-Sixers game in recognition of their selflessness. School officials and family members accompanied them.
MaGee recently stopped a bullying incident at his school. He also is a member of a Deptford fire company and has enlisted in the armed forces. Pickens has been assisting another student who has multiple sclerosis, helping the student get to classes and to the lunchroom. She is also a member of Paulsboro High School’s tennis team.
“Courtney and John have demonstrated, by their actions, how a positive act can greatly influence their fellow students and the entire school community,” said Gloucester County Prosecutor Sean F. Dalton. “We salute them and wish them continued success in their future endeavors.”
