PRESS RELEASE
Washington Township, NJ – Three former Democrats who suddenly decided to run in the June 5 Republican primary for Washington Township mayor and council are hiding from the public and refusing to debate the Republican team of Daniel Morley, Kevin Murphy and Tahir Mella, who have been endorsed and supported by the Washington Township Republican Executive Committee.
“Where are these ‘rogue’ candidates?” said candidate for mayor, Daniel Morley.
“Our team of Morley, Murphy and Mella can’t wait to debate these former Democrats, because we believe that they have some explaining to do to Republican voters. But after repeated requests to debate, these ‘rogue’ candidates have declined to debate our Republican team.”
Several requests have been made in writing to debate the “rogue” candidates over the past week. Finally, they responded with an email stating, “After careful consideration, we have concluded that there would be no meaningful benefit or purpose for a primary debate.”
Morey continued, “The Republican voters in Washington Township have a lot of questions for these ‘rogue’ candidates. Why were they registered as Democrats just a few months ago? Why is one of the candidates willfully committing a Class 2 Offense? Why didn’t they participate in the official vetting process through the Washington Township Republican Party, like every other candidate?”
The 3 M’s – Morley, Murphy and Mella – are the only candidates in the June 5th Republican primary with the support of the Washington Township Republican Party. They are longtime community leaders in Washington Township with the right kind of experience to end the political games in local government and lead with public service, not self service.
