(March 14, 2012)Thomas Gillespie (DOB 8/12/63), of 114 Barker Avenue, Logan Township NJ died early today of a single, self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, according to an autopsy conducted by the Gloucester County NJ Medical Examiner’s Office.
Investigators believe Gillespie first fired one shot that struck his 47-year-old girlfriend in the head, critically wounding her, then shot himself. The shootings occurred shortly before 2 a.m. today at the Barker Avenue home the two shared. Police received a call about a domestic disturbance at the home at 1:49 a.m. Officers found Gillespie and the woman lying on the floor of a family room in the house. She was taken to the shock/trauma unit of Crozer Chester Medical Center in Upland PA and is in critical but stable condition.
. The woman’s 10-year-old and 13-year-old daughters from a previous marriage were unharmed on the second floor of the house. They are now with their biological father.
A 38 cal. handgun believed to have been used in the shootings was recovered from the house.
Gillespie and the woman, who had a three-year relationship, had no history of domestic violence.
