On 09/24 at 1812 a resident of the 500 block of Cumberland Street called to report an act of harassment. Two juvenile males knocked on the front door of the residence and began to harass the victim after she refused to give them money for their singing talents. The juveniles left the area after the victim asked to speak with their parents. The parents and juveniles returned a short time later and they too continued to harass the victim.
Officers located the family at Cumberland and Sussex and attempted to speak with them. The mother and father began to yell at the officer and claimed they were being harassed by the police. The female refused to calm down and began to yell and scream in the street. Jodi Mercado (35) of the unit block of S. Sussex Street was then placed under arrest. She continued to fight with the officer and refused to sit in the rear of the patrol vehicle. She had to be pepper sprayed after officers continued to struggle with her. Her boyfriend, Santos Gonzalez (23) began to rush toward the officer, however, was stopped by an off-duty police officer who arrived at the location. Gonzalez was then placed under arrest also. Both were taken to police headquarters where they were charged with Disorderly Conduct. Mercado was additionally charged with Resisting Arrest and Obstruction of Justice.
On 09/23 at 1022 a resident of the 700 block of Division Street reported that sometime overnight his vehicle was burglarized while parked behind Highland Tavern. An IPod and CD’s were stolen.
On 09/23 at 2217 Barry Nickel (32) of Deptford was arrested at King and Essex Streets on an outstanding warrant. Nickel was found to be in possession of 2 bags of crack cocaine and was charged with Possession of CDS. He was remanded to the Camden County Corrections Facility.
On 09/23 at 2247 officers responded to the 300 block of Morris Street for a fight. On arrival they observed Shawn Wilcox (30) of said block attempting to start a fight. Wilcox refused to stop his actions and was placed under arrest. Also arrested were Yanira Rodriguez (28) of the 300 block of Morris and Dawn Frisco (30) of Philadelphia. Officers observed Rodriguez engaged in a fight and placed her under arrest. While handcuffing Rodriguez, Frisco attempted to intervene and grabbed an officer by the arm. Frisco was then placed under arrest for Obstruction of Justice. Both Rodriguez and Wilcox were charged with Disorderly Conduct and Resisting Arrest. All were released ROR.
On 09/26 at 0910 an employee of Universal Supply on Route 130 reported that sometime during the weekend unknown person(s) entered their fenced in yard and stole roofing material.
On 09/26 at 0844 a resident of the 400 block of Highland Blvd reported that sometime overnight unknown person(s) entered their residence. A laptop, Wii game system and car keys were stolen. The victim’s 2002 Dodge Durango was also reported to be stolen.
On 09/27 at 2248 a resident of the 700 block of Jersey Ave reported that approximately 15 minutes earlier, an unknown male entered their unlocked vehicle and stole a GPS, cell phone, and loose change.
On 09/28 at 1916 a motor vehicle stop in the parking lot of the Quality Inn led to the arrest of Richard Shipp (37) of Westville. Shipp was found to be in possession of 5 bags of heroin, 9 oxycontin pills, 5 methadone pills, and 1 hypodermic syringe. Officers also observed a 3 year old child sleeping in the rear of the vehicle. Both Shipp and the child were transported to police headquarters. Shipp was charged with Possession of CDS, Possession of a Hypodermic Syringe and Child Neglect. The child was turned over to DYFS.
On 09/29 at 1902 Paul Hasselman (29) of Clarksboro was arrested at Broadway and King Street. Hasselman was found to be in possession of 2 oxymorphine pills and was charged accordingly.
Addtionally, officers responded to 15 domestic violence incidents, 11 motor vehicle accidents and made 28 arrests during the week.
THOSE CHARGED ARE PRESUMED INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY.
